Description:Assists in coordination of the accounting process,
including, but not limited to, Financial Statement Preparation,
Reconciliations, General Ledger Accounting, and Revenue
Recognition. The Staff Accountant is responsible for the accurate
and timely maintenance & preparation of all financial information,
operating reports, statistics and general ledger accounts that are
assigned to them. The primary focus of this role is centered around
General Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts
Receivable, and assistance with Financial Statement Preparation.
Attention to detail and accuracy with quantitative data and
financial calculations is critical. As with all other members of
the accounting department, the Staff Accountant is expected to be
familiar with and maintain compliance with Generally Accepted
Accounting Principles as well as any applicable regulatory
standards and requirements associated with the company. The
employee is expected to maintain confidentiality commiserate to the
sensitive information that they are privy to in their role as a
Staff Accountant and to act in a professional manner as defined by
the company's premier expectations.
- Assists in coordination of the accounting process, including,
but not limited to, Financial Statement Preparation,
Reconciliations, General Ledger Accounting, and Revenue
Recognition.
- Maintains current awareness of customer needs and meets
standards and requirements of accounting functions to reflect and
meet practice objectives in accordance with established policies
and procedures.
- Implements established departmental policies and procedures,
objectives, quality improvement program and safety standards.
- Resolves complaints, conflicts and operational problems.
Identifies problems, documents resolutions and communicates with
applicable parties to ensure that operational issues are handled
and resolved in a timely manner.
- Informs CFO and Controller of any problems which cannot be
resolved or require intervention.
- Coordinates with various practice staff to ensure accurate
processing and maintenance of accounting systems and financial
records.
- Willingness to approach, research, and resolve any accounting
issues that may arise. Demonstrates knowledge of accounting
processes and makes decisions which utilize resources
effectively.
- Makes changes and recommendations as needed to enhance and
improve services and efficiency in operations.
- Assists in managing any implementation of accounting systems to
support general ledger. Assists in implementation and improvement
of internal controls for the accounting systems. Identifies and
implements efficiencies in systems and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of financial statements and the
monthly financial statement package.
- Ensures preparation and maintenance of required financial
statements, reports, and records. Completes assigned account
reconciliations and analysis. Ensures resolution of discrepancies
among accounts.
- Assures accurate and timely completion of all reports, records,
tax payments in compliance with generally accepted accounting
practices and state and federal regulations.
- Assists in the preparation and release of financial analysis
and other financial information to appropriate sources as
requested.
- Assists in coordinating financial information for outside
entities (including financial audits, banks).
- Ensures confidentiality of financial information.
- Prepares and maintains required reports, records, and files for
administrative and operational purposes. Utilizes computer and
information systems to enter, formats data and generates
statistics, computations, tables, charts and graphs.
- Answers inquiries and communicates effectively with others.
Provides training and assistance to management staff in
establishing proper chart of accounts and interpretation of
financial and operating reports.
- Utilizes analytic skills and statistical analysis to aggregate
data to assist with the identification of potential problems and
patterns, trends, establishes priorities and recommends improvement
activities.
- Completes required continuous training and education, including
department specific requirements to maintain and increase knowledge
of accounting practices.
- Responds to problems and opportunities to improve work
environment.
- Attends in-services, educational programs, conferences and
other meetings as required. Requirements:To perform this job
successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential
duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are
representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability
required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's Degree In Accounting. Minimum 4
years of progressive experience in accounting with at least two (2)
of those years in healthcare or public accounting required.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel,
Outlook, and PowerPoint). Knowledge and ability to operate
accounting software applications (Sage Intaact is a plus).
